Jaume Masip's research focuses on the verbal and nonverbal detection of deception. Among several other issues, he has explored:

- Police officers’ lie-detection accuracy and biases, as well as the strategies officers use when judging veracity.
- Beliefs about deception cues.
- Judgmental biases in judging veracity caused by deception-detection training.
- The impact of facial appearance on truthfulness attributions.
- Linguistic (e.g., using LIWC) and verbal (e.g., CBCA, RM, ARJS) cues to deception.
- Non-behavioral indicators of deception.
- The Behavior Analysis Interview (BAI).
- Liars’ strategies to be convincing.
- Interviewing to detect deception.
- Cognitive models of deception, and theroretical perspectives on lie detection.
- How people detect lies in everyday life.

Jaume Masip is teaching "Psychology and Law" and "Criminal Psychology" at the University of Salamanca (Spain).
